Skiing in Bansko
Bansko is a popular alpine skiing, snowboarding, climbing and hiking resort. The mountains surrounding the town give all levels of skiers -- from beginner to expert -- plenty of options. Expert skiers, in particular, will benefit from some of the best downhill slopes in the country. The resort has a range of gondola lifts and chairlifts.
Summer in Bansko
When the ski season is done a different type of visitor can be found in Bansko. The ancient town of Bansko itself has much to offer any visitor, with a wealth of historical and cultural monuments and places of interest. For example, the Staroto Gradishte contains the remains of ancient fortresses and there are also Thracian mound hills in the area. Just to the south of the town is the Pirin National Park which is a World Heritage National Park. Visitors may also want to take trips to see the nearby Rila Monastery, to try out the mineral springs in Banya or to visit the city of Sofia.
