View Holiday Homes Black Sea

The Black Sea has numerous places of interest along its coast including Roman ruins, sanctuaries, historical monuments and vineyards, all accessible via the airports of Varna and Burgas. Average temperatures in the summer are around 28c with the water at a glorious 25c. May through September see an average in excess of 250 hours of sunshine per month. The Black Sea Coast is thus a popular holiday destination for both Bulgarians and for foreign tourists. The the sea is warm and the beaches are of a very high standard. It’s no wonder that many visitors compare the area to more traditional Mediterranean destinations.

Black Sea Coast Destinations

Two of the largest -- and perhaps best known -- towns in the area are Varna and Burgas. These larger towns are both serviced by airports -- Varna to the north and Burgas to the south. Both places make a good centre for any holiday -- other less well-known destinations include:

  • Balchik -- Balchik is a seaside resort well known for its quaint white-washed cottages and beautiful sea views. It is the home of a royal summer palace -- the Quiet Nest -- and Botanical Gardens.
  • Albena -- Albena is a northerly resort backed by cliffs. It has a renowned beach and a relaxed feel.
  • Nessebur -- Nessebur is an historic town that is separated from the mainland by a narrow stretch of water. The town is well known for its wooden fishing cottages and historically interesting churches.
  • Ravda -- Ravda is a quiet resort with fine beaches and a range of facilities.
  • Sozopol -- Sozopol is a small fishing port which is a popular home for writers and artists. The resort has two main beaches and the older part of the town dates back to the 19th century.

Things To Do

The Black Sea Coast area is great for any beach holiday but this region of Bulgaria offers other things to do. For example, there are forests, nature reserves and mountains within easy reach of various resorts so walking and climbing are also popular with visitors.

The region is particularly well known for its spas. The sea air, mineral baths, hot springs and mud bath cures offer all kinds of possibilities here. Visitors can also take advantage of other activities including water skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, para-skiing, boating and fishing.

Black Sea Coast Rental Accommodation

There are a range of options when it comes to renting holiday accommodation on the Black Sea Coast. Visitors can choose from all manner and sizes of properties including:

  • Flats, studios and apartments
  • Houses and villas

Properties here can be found for couples, families or larger parties and are located along and around the coastline in seaside resorts and in mountain and village locations. It is also possible to benefit from a range of extras with many rental properties. For example, some companies or property owners will offer free airport transfers or may even lay on excursions to local places of interest.

The Black Sea Coast is thus an ideal holiday destination: although it is obviously a great option in the summer for beach holidays, there is also plenty to do and see in the off-season months as well.
