The resort offers 7 main key ski runs over 25km [View Ski Runs]. Sunny Rentals offers full and self-catering accommodation ranging from modern hotels and apartments to traditional ski chalets and villas. Pamporovo has become one of the best-known mountain resorts in south-eastern Europe. The region’s skiing and snowboarding attracts a lot of visitors in winter months. The resort is also a popular destination for many in summer as well.

Pamporovo stands in the southern Rhodope Mountains at an altitude of 1650m above sea level. The highest peak -- Mount Snezhanka -- stands a few hundred meters higher than the town. The resort has a ‘soft’ winter with around 150 days of snowfall per annum so the season is relatively long.

Pamporovo Skiing

Pamporovo is an increasingly popular ski destination: the annual snowfall and sunny aspect of the resort make it a pleasant place to visit for all skiers. Skiing here will provide:-

  • Snow and Sunshine -- the regular snowfall in the resort (reaching averages of around 1.4m) also comes with around 120 days of winter sun. The skiing season lasts from the middle of December to the middle of April. January is the coldest month here with average temperatures of around -3C.
  • Ski Levels -- Pamporovo has skiing options for all levels of experience. There are plenty of opportunities for beginners and intermediates to practice on the gentle slopes of the mountain. There are also a range of challenging runs for more expert skiers. All runs operate safe guards.
  • Ski Instruction -- the resort has plenty of qualified instructors who can teach at all levels. Classes are also available for snowboarding and off piste/cross-country skiing.
  • Equipment Hire -- Pamporovo has various hire facilities which are located at the lift stations and near the ski runs.

Things to do

Pamporovo offers visitors more than just skiing. The resort has various shops both in the resort and in shopping centres in some of the larger hotels. Restaurants here cater for various types of cuisine and budgets including local taverns with regional cooking and traditional dancers. The nightlife in the resort also has plenty to offer from a quiet relaxing drink to lively discos and night clubs.

During the ski season a variety of events are organised including ice-skating, bowling, bum-boarding, skidooing, tobogganing and a ski-instructor’s show. Excursions are also arranged to nearby towns -- it’s worth visiting Plovdiv, Smolyan and Sofia on either an organised trip or independently.

Renting Accommodation

There are various options for renting accommodation in the resort. Choices here include:

  • Chalets
  • Houses
  • Apartments

It’s possible to rent properties to suit all party sizes from couples through to large groups and families. The quality of accommodation here is generally to a high standard and can be found to suit all budgets.
